About the course!

This short introductory course is designed to provide a framework and prepare you to assemble a Cultural Diversity and Inclusion Skills Development workshop effectively.The course is divided into four parts -

The course will focus on writing by Indian authors in both English and translation, providing students with the chance to read the ideas and creative output of local authors as well. A wide range of genres, including poetry, fiction, and criticism, will be covered, along with extremely pertinent topics like language politics, writing from and about marginalized populations and groups, and the views of women. As learners read representative literature from live writers with a current world view, it envisions the opening of a window through which they can observe the rich legacy of the Bhakti and Sufi movements and journey into the modern world. The course will study writers and critics like Sujit Mukherjee, Sisir Kumar Das, Amrit Rai, MK Naik, Nabanita Deb Sen, Tillotamma Mishra, Eleanor Zelliot, Bulleh Shah, Akka Mahadevi, Meera, Raghuvir Sahay, Ayyappa Paniker, Kynphem Sing Nongkynrih, N.T. Rajkumar, Lakshmi Kannan, Pudhimaipithan, Indira Sant and Naseem Shafaie.
